Dolly Varden Siding

Dolly Varden siding (3/4 x 9in nominal) shown with various color stains.

Our salvaged Southern Yellow Pine displays a very dramatic wood grain and provides a very solid sturdy siding especially in the Dolly Varden style.

Dolly Varden siding is a special mill cut with a thick beveled face and rabbeted lower edge which protects the joint. Unlike standard beveled siding the Dolly Varden backside lays flat and securely against the wall.

Dolly Varden was the heroine in Charles Dickens 1841 novel Barnaby Rudge. Her rather colorful style was quite popular and admired, so much so that,  a waltz, a rose, a trout and this style siding was named after her.
